Carousel – Key Art

Key Art and collateral design for the short film "Carousel."

Generate viewer interest by interpreting the mood and tone of a short film “Carousel“ to be displayed across various collateral. The visual system created must be accessible, professional, and illustrate the core concepts of the film.
After viewing the film and analyzing the screenplay, it was apparent that it revolved around the fortune telling machine at a carnival. Because this machine was the catalyst to the conflict, it was incorporated as the main element in much of the design. The film’s plot, score, and photographic style suggest mysterious undertones. This, and the fact that the entire film takes place at night, were key points that led to a subdued and warm color palette. Also noticed was the use of bokeh (out of focus) lights in the film, which prompted the use of them throughout the system.
